Greensboro Review Literary Awards

Stickman Review Fiction Contest
The sponsor provides an award for the best submission of previously
unpublished fiction. The first place winner receives $250; second place

Fineline Competition for Prose Poems, Short
Shorts, and Anything In Between
Sponsor is Mid-American Review. Support is provided for an award for prose
poems and short shorts. First prize is $500, publication, and an engraved
contest commemorative pin. Ten finalists will receive a notation plus possible
publication. The contest is open to all writers except those associated
with the sponsor. There is a $5 entry fee for each prose poem/short, or $10
for each set of three.

Literal LatteShort Shorts Awards
The sponsor provides an award for the best short story submission. Submissions

Speakeasy Prize in Poetry and Prose
The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis provides an award to recognize the
talents of poets and writers across the nation. Two winners, one in poetry, one
in prose, will receive a $1,000 cash prize and publication in Speakeasy, the
sponsor's literary culture magazine.

Gulf Coast Literary Prizes
The sponsor provides awards for the best poem, the best fictional short story
and the best nonfiction essay. Applicants should submit one short story,
essay or up to five poems. The winner of the poetry and short story genres
will receive a cash prize of $1,000. The winner of the nonfiction essay
genre will receive a cash prize of $500. All submissions will be
considered for publication.

Nimrod/Hardman Writing Awards
Awards are made to writers and poets for either a poem or work of short fiction.
Cash awards plus publication are given to first and second prizewinners. No
previously published works or works accepted for publication elsewhere are
eligible. A $20 entry fee includes a one-year subscription (two issues).
First place includes $2,000 and publication. The second place

Pearl Short Story Contest
The sponsor provides an award for the best short story.
Submissions should be 4,000 words maximum (about fifteen to sixteen manuscript
pages). Only previously unpublished stories are accepted. The award
consists of a cash prize of $250 and publication in "Pearl." All
submissions must be accompanied by a $10 entry fee. The entry fee includes
a copy of the magazine featuring the winning story.

Short Fiction Prize sponsored by SUNY Stony Brook
The sponsor provides an award for short fiction to undergraduates enrolled
full-time in American and Canadian universities and colleges for the academic
year 2003-2004. The award is $1,000.

Glimmer Train Short-Story Award for New Writers
The sponsor provides an award for the best short story submission by a new
writer. The competition is open to writers whose fiction has not appeared in any
publication (printed or online) with a circulation over 5,000. Entries must be
entirely unpublished. Submissions are accepted between February 1 and March 31
for the Spring, and August 1 to September 30 for the Fall. The sponsor provides
an award for the best short story submission by a new writer. All submissions
must be accompanied by a $12 reading fee per story, and must not exceed 12,000
words. The first place award consists of a cash prize of $1,200, publication in
Glimmer Train Stories and twenty copies of that issue. Second and third place are
$500 and $300, respectively.

Arts & Letters Prizes
The sponsor's competition offers publication and a $1,000 prize
for winners in fiction, poetry and drama. A $15 submission fee, payable in U.S.
dollars, includes a two-issue subscription to "Arts & Letters." All
submissions will be considered
for publication. Authors whose works receive an honorable mention from the final
judges may also be offered publication at the sponsor's standard honorarium.
